Since the age of 7-8 years, I have accompanied my grand-dad on his Service Projects for Lions’ Club, of which he is an active member since 2009. Some of the initiatives which I have participated in :

Participated in a free Medical Camp for the under-privileged. The camp was manned by doctors from Fortis Hospital, a large chain of hospitals in India, as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility efforts. Lions’ Club members, my grand-dad included, organised the camp in the lobby of one of the neighbouring buildings. People coming to the Camp included security guards, domestic help and drivers of neighbouring buildings, and even some residents of these buildings. The doctors were testing for blood pressure, potential heart trouble, eye-check, diabetes. My task was to take care of the reception desk, where the participants were landing, note down their names, age, address and create a physical file for each such person, which they would take from desk to desk and get all check-ups done.  I believed that I was an important cog in the wheel of that Project that day 😊

Participated in a camp where Lion’s Club donated about 30 sewing machines to poor women, encouraging them to add another source of livelihood on the side for themselves. I liked this initiative where we were not giving away the fish, but encouraging them to learn fishing.

In Grade 9, I was a writer for students with Learning Challenges and Attention Deficit for their ICSE Board Examinations (10th grade)
